Hale's NFL Picks
Hale's Picks for Week 10
- Dallas - 14.5: The Cowboys are #1 in practically every category. Philadelphia has surprising numbers, though. Their defense is top-notch in almost all categories except one big one: points scored. The Eagles haven't really played anyone tough except for the Raiders, and that was a 48-17 blowout loss. Dallas shows up on Monday night putting on a clinic for the rest of the league. Give the points.
- Cards + 8: Arizona is getting points against a Denver team that is over-rated. 8 points? Jump on them, especially since the Broncs have a hard time getting up for non-division games.
- Rams + 1.5: The Saints don't cover when giving points where their opponent just lost (0-7). Hell, the Saint's don't cover when giving points period. The Rams are a far superior team than this lowly New Orleans club, and will take the points and beat them outright.
- Packers - 1.5: Packers are really good in their division, covering 77% of their divisional games. Also, they're over 75% just after they've had a loss or failed to cover. The Green Bay pass defense is (surprise!) #1 in the league, and will likely give the Viking offense fits. Moon will be stopped, and so will the Viking scoring.
- Bears - 2.5
- Pitt covers 11 of 14 times when they just gave up less than 14 points, but..
- The Bears aren't the Jags. Chicago scores a lot, and Steelers #27 in giving up points.
- Bills + 4
- Bills cover 10 of 13 times (77%) when they've just failed twice in row
- Colts cover only 18% of time when opponent just lost
- Colts are horrible at covering at home when favored
- Patriots - 2.5
- Jets are the worst team in the NFL and 2.5 measly points not enough
- Pats mad after last week's loss
- Oilers + 7
- Too many points. Houston usually keeps it close.
- Lions + 1.5
- Lions have always covered in Atlanta
- Lions usually cover when getting less than a field goal (73%)
- Sanders could break 200 yards against a lousy Falcon rush defense
- Redskins + 8.5
- Is this spread too big? KC by a touchdown.
- Washington's defense is terrible, particularly the rushing defense (#28), which goes up against the #4 running game of Chiefs. Big day for Marcus.
- Bengals + 6.5
- Offensive game: Bengals #1 in pass yards, Raiders top 5 in scoring
- Oakland doesn't cover on the road (2-2 this year).
- Bengals are a tenatious bunch with character.
- Seahawks +1
- They don't do well as an underdog, but..
- Rushing: #3 in league vs. a Giant defense which is #26.
- Miami + 1.5
- San Diego doesn't do well against good defenses (cover less than 30% of time) when favored
- Miami's getting points against a poor team.
- Intangible alert -- Marino's back.
- 49ers - 15.5: This will be a reality check for the streaking Panthers. SF only 2-2 covering those big spreads, though.
