Hale's NFL Picks
How it's done
Hiya. You know there are many handicappers out there who
punch up a computer program and -- bam -- out come picks.
Not Hale. No sirree. Hale pores over gobs and gobs of
data, sifting through trends, match-ups, injuries and recent
performances. He picks winners for most games, and puts them
online by Friday afternoon. Any feedback -- good or bad --
is appreciated.
The Week in Review
We had an excellent 3-0 week as all of our
picks won! (ok, so Hale got lucky!)
In addition, those of you who took the time to send Hale a
letter got a bonus: Hale had picks for ALL of
Sunday's games, and his picks went 10-4 overall
! (Hale laments that
he might have done even better if those stinkin' Panthers
didn't cough the ball up 6 -- count 'em, 6 -- times, but
what're you gonna do?!)
Great. Now Hale has to follow up his winning incredible week with
these horrible games. Ugly games galore. Hale's advice?
Don't break open the piggy bank for this week of horrors.
Hale's Picks for Week 12
- Raiders + 3: Well, the Raiders are finally back in
the friendly confines of Oakland, where they've covered all
four games this year. You've got an embarrassed Dallas
team, which wants to avenge their surprise blowout last weekend.
In Oakland's favor are two league-wide trends this year: Home
teams are 13-6 after back-to-back fails; and HomeDogs are 10-3 in
interconference games. Dallas is 0-5 ATS on the road after
fails, and 1-6 ATS on the road when their opponent has just
won. Hale says forget Dallas' redemption and take the points here.
- Chargers + 4: San Diego is 5-0 ATS on the road
after failing to cover in two consecutive games, and 9-1 ATS
when its opponent is coming off a loss. On Denver's side,
they're 0-5 as a favorite after a fail, 0-7 ATS when their
opponent just lost, and 1-6 when favored over a weak team.
RoadDogs are 25-13 after failing big the week prior. Hale
believes that San Diego is in a must-win situation
here to have a shot at the playoffs and will come up with a win.
- Chicago/Detroit OVER 43.5
- Cincinnatti/Pittsburgh OVER 41
