Hale's NFL Picks
How it's done
Hiya. You know there are many handicappers out there who
punch up a computer program and -- bam -- out come picks.
Not Hale. No sirree. Hale pores over gobs and gobs of
data, sifting through trends, match-ups, injuries and recent
performances. He picks winners for most games, and puts them
online by Friday afternoon. Any feedback -- good or bad --
is appreciated.
The Week in Review
Hale *told* you he didn't like last week's games. He had to pick
games by Tuesday, and didn't like the Turkey Day matchups. Still,
throw out Thursday, and Hale was 8-4 on Sunday sides.
Now, for this week's stuff. It's an icky week because of Thursday
games, which means that Hale has to come up with picks early. This
means that injuries, healings and stuff that happen later in the
week won't be reflected in my picks. Plus, lots of good matchups,
which means that you're not going to see lots of games this week
picked. So, once again, be careful and keep those bets down. And
for those of you wanting a tip for the Thursday games, if Hale had a
gun to his head, he might take the Chiefs + 10 and Dallas/KC OVER
but these aren't picks that Hale likes (unless he wins with 'em!).
Hale's Picks for Week 13
- Houston + 3: Hale has a big problem with Denver
being a favorite. The Broncs are 0-8 ATS when laying points
against an opponent who just lost, and 0-6 ATS if favored
after they just failed to cover their prior game. Houston
is a HomeDog, and this year HomeDogs have covered 67% ATS
after they've lost 2 games in a row, and are 11-5 in domes.
The Oilers have covered all year (8-3 ATS), and are a very
efficient team (#3 in points scored per yard). Oh, that
Elway guy? As far as completion percentage goes, Denver is
#19 in the league and playing a Houston defense that is #4
giving up a tight 55% completion rate.
- Eagles/Redskins OVER 42.5
- Seahawks/Jets OVER 41
