Hale's NFL Picks
How it's done
Hiya. You know there are many handicappers out there who
punch up a computer program and -- bam -- out come picks.
Not Hale. No sirree. Hale pores over gobs and gobs of
data, sifting through trends, match-ups, injuries and recent
performances. He picks winners for most games, and puts them
online by Friday afternoon. Any feedback -- good or bad --
is appreciated.
The Week in Review
Hale *told* you he didn't like last week's games. He had to pick
games by Tuesday, and didn't like the Turkey Day matchups. Still,
throw out Thursday, and Hale was 8-4 on Sunday sides. Hale really
liked one "side" game to make it a pick, and Houston came through
just fine for Hale.
Below are the picks for this week. Finally a couple of
sides that appeal to Hale!
(For those of you who've sent me e-mail this week, you
know that Hale's 2-0 after Thursday's
game -- Giants to upset by
winning outright, and UNDER. Let's see how that carries
into the weekend...)
Hale's Picks for Week 14
- Giants + 1.5: Are the Cards good enough to lay
points, even at home? Hale says "no." Giants are 6-1 ATS when
they get to play on real grass, 6-0 ATS when getting 3 or less,
and cover in the high 80% range when playing a lousy team
(5-0 when an underdog). The Giants beat a pathetic Redskin team
on the road (when getting points), and Hale's looking for an upset
here as New York wins outright.
- Bengals + 11: Bengals have covered on the
road all 6 times this year. In the last 3 seasons, they're
6-2 ATS on the road after a cover. Great, because the Packers
are doing well against so-so teams. Hale thinks the Packers will
be looking ahead to their next divisional game (Bucs next week)
and taking it easy here. Eleven big points? Take 'em as
the Packer coach STILL has never lost a home game in November,
but won't cover the big spread.
- Indy/Carolina OVER 38.5
- Saints/Patriots UNDER 41.5
