What happened in Week 12?
(Hale handicaps all games, but not all games are "picks")
Best Bets continued their resurgence, going a perfect 1-0. This brings
their record up to an impressive 15-7 recently. Overall, side picks this week went 2-1,
not counting tonight's GB/Dallas matchup. Over/Unders took the week off,
but Hale's expecting them to do well in lucky Week 13.
Hale included a quick sentence about each game this week. But there's a
catch: he hasn't included the "key" of his rating for each game (until
after the game was played). So, you
won't be able to tell which are the Best Bets and what games only count in
Hale's record if they're right until it's over. To find out how much confidence Hale
has in the games, you'll have to send Hale mail!
Ratings, and FULL analysis in the weekly email:
- Bears: "The same thing should happen here also, as the Bears
rise to the occassion (remember Dallas?), while the Chiefs suffer a letdown
after Green Bay."
- Seattle - PICK: "It shouldn't be a defensive duel or anything, but
Hale's looking for the Seahawks to cover."
- Pittsburgh: "The Pittsburgh defense should tighten the
clamps, keep the pressure on a porous offensive line, and help them
coast to an easy victory."
- Carolina - BEST BET: "Hale would like the
Panthers a lot better if they could score over 20 points on the road
once in a while but thinks they'll have enough to pull this one out."
- Packers: "Slight nod to Green Bay
in a close one as the Pack makes a statement after last week's KC
loss."
- Bengals: "Seven points might be spotting this streaking
Bengals team a little too much."
- San Diego: "This Buc team will feel good about their upset of
the Raiders last week, and lose their focus on the road as the better team will
prevail, and cover."
- Philly - PICK: "After the Bill bump in the road, Hale's looking for Philly to get back on
track with a cover against the back-to-reality Redskins."
- Minnesota: "While the Raiders should roll up all kinds of
yardage on the ground with their #2 running game (almost 5 ypc), the
spread's just a wee bit big here."
- Atlanta: "Atlanta will gleefully welcome the Saints after a
VERY difficult home stretch (Eagles, Oilers, Steelers, and Panthers). The
#6 rushing attack of the Falcons should eat up the #25 rushing defense
of the Saints. Hale gives the 4."
- Jets: "Even if the Colts can somehow manage a win, Hale thinks that they'll come
out a bit flat against a dangerous Jets team and not cover."
- Denver: "Put it all together, and you have the wrong team
favored, as Denver wins it."
- San Fran: "Baltimore has played 3
tough teams on the road so far and have lost all those games in
double-digits, and their sorry defense won't be able to stop even a
Young-less Niner offense."
- Giants: "Every Arizona visitor except the pathetic Bucs has
cracked 28 points, and if the Giants defense (#9 in scoring allowed)
continues their ways, they should cover here."
- Houston: "Houston's been playing well at home
this year, and keep the opponents scoring low. A final score of about
30-14 sound about right, with the Oilers emerging with a W."
Best Bets (last 10 weeks): 15-7
Week 12 Public Pick
Seattle
The annual "Save Wayne's Job" campaign should come to an end after that
bonehead call at the end of the first half Monday night. Turning to the
surging Seahawks...Seattle is 7-3 when their foe just lost. As a RoadDog,
they're 8-1 against a weak team, and 75% when facing a suspect defense.
HomeFavs who were losing RoadDogs last week only cover 39% of the time,
going back 15 years, which describes the Lions' situation. It shouldn't be
a defensive duel or anything, but Hale's looking for the Seahawks to cover.
As you probably already know, past success is not a guarantee of future
results. While many hours of preparation and research go into each week's
picks, Hale provides no warranty, implied or express, for their
success. And anyone who can guarantee you a win is either lying or has ties to
organized crime.
