What happened in Week 19?

(Hale handicaps all games, but not all games are "picks")

Hale busted out his very first Best Bet of the 1996 post-season, and the lone Best Bet won nicely (picks overall were 2-1). Oh, sure, some might say that calling for Carolina to win outright against the defending champs was a gutsy call -- especially for a Best Bet. Ok, while Hale called for both San Fran and Dallas to lose in Round 2, he was off the mark on the "Jagwads" (no no, you misunderstood; Hale said Jacksonville would march into Denver and continue their post-Atlanta roll) and Pittsburgh (who got out-Steelered by the Patsies). But then again, those games were not Best Bets.
