The Upsets

• Wash/Rams: "Hale bucks the angle, takes the misplaced points, and looks for an upset." Result -- Washington wins outright.
  
• SD/Oak: "When it all comes down to it, the Chargers are the better team and should pull an upset." Result -- Chargers win outright.
  
• Giants/Jets: "Hale thinks the Giants will want this one more and pull off an 'upset,' winning at home." Result -- Giants win outright.
  
• Jags/Pats: "Hale thinks that the spread is just too many points for New England to cover." Result -- Pats win but don't cover.
  

The Rest

• Sea/TB: "Hale goes against recent history and picks Seattle for their first cover of the season." Result -- Seahawks cover.
  
• Det/Chic: "Hale tentatively gives the points, but they may be too many." Result -- They weren't too many as Lions cover easily.
  
• KC/Den: "Hale's leaning towards KC." Result - KC wins but falls 1.5 points short of covering.
  
• SF/Car: "Don’t construe this as disrespect towards Carolina, but Hale’s expecting a SF cover." Result -- Respected Carolina covers.
  
• Dal/Buff: "This one’s hard to call, but Hale gives a tentative edge to Dallas." Result -- Buffalo wins by a field goal.
  
• Miami/Colts: "Big yards, big victory for Miami. Hale calls for the upset." Result -- Marino misses game and Dolphins fall just short.
  
• NO/AZ: "Saints win by 2 TD's." We just won't talk about this one.
  
• Phil/Atl: "Hale would rather not call this one, but since you expect a pick for every game, Hale gives a wee nod to Atlanta in the Battle of the Birds." Result -- Hale should have stuck with his gut and just ignored the game.
