Week 9
Week 8 Review
Hale's lone Best Bet came through wonderfully as
the Bills trounched a heartless Carolina team. It was predicted that the Bills were
the better team and Hale predicted the upset. This makes Hale's Best Bets 3-2 for
the season (3-0 if you take away a pathetic Week 3 where Hale must have been sleeping
whilst making the picks).
Also coming through in the Upset Crystal Ball were the Saints ("Look for the
Saints to cover and to go back above .500 with a win.").
Week 9 Public Picks
- Broncos - 11:
Denver is favored by 11, and to be honest, that's just not enough. First,
let's dispatch with why the Broncs might not cover, then move on to sunnier topics. Where
both teams were in semi-blowouts their last game, the RoadFav is 0-6. When the Bengals are
playing a foe who just won and Cincy is off a loss, the HomeDog Bengals are 7 of 9, and
4-0 if the Bengals are a HomeFav after a 2-TD loss. Denver and Cincinnati both played the
Raiders this year, and the Broncos got the better end of the deal. Denver is covering the
spread by an average of 8 points, and the Bengals are failing by an average of 5. Bottom
line: the Denver offense is in the Top Three in pretty much every category, and the
Bengals are in the bottom three with their defense in those same categories. Denver by at
least 2 TDs.
- Giants - 2½
A team that's scoring well against a team that's not is 8-1 as RoadFav the
past two years. Also, a team that's marginal on the road laying only a few points to a
team that's winless at home is 15-7 since 1993. Hey, let's face it, the 'Skins haven't
covered ONCE this season. In past match ups, the Giants have covered 5 of 7 at RFK
Stadium. Against a team that's -13 in TOs, expect lots of sacks, poor field position and a
cover for the Giants.
