Mike Myers is brilliant!
There. I got that out of the way. Because, if you sit down and analyze this film, you just can ruin a good experience. The acting is decent and the story isn't "Life is Beautiful." It's just a damn good time.
Mike Myers wrote and starred in this flick. He played not two roles, but four. The third (Fat Bastard) was a vehicle to inject a bunch of bathroom humor, while also tipping his hat to his classic Scottish character in So I Married an Axe Murderer (if you haven't seen this, you HAVE to).
I think that we could have done without the bathroom humor, but at least it didn't take over the film like other juvenile characters did in other kiddie films like *cough*Star Wars*cough*.
I had to really think about which character I enjoyed more, Myers as Powers, or Myers as Dr. Evil. Mini-Me almost stole the show, as did the guy playing Dr. Evil's "not-evil-enough" son.
There were some great sight gags, tons of word play, and some really clever skits that you can see coming a mile away but were executed perfectly with flawless timing. A couple of gags went a bit too long, where Myers didn't realize where to say "when," but you can overlook that and just admire the whole experience.
Oh, and Heather Graham played a great Felicity Shagwell, but if you didn't think Marcia Brady when you saw her, you didn't see enough Brady Bunch in the 70's.
All in all, silly and fun, with some great belly laugh-out-loud scenes. Worth the cash; just expect some really low-brow humor mixed in and you'll be fine. A 8.
